Are you a Master Mariner with 2 years of shore based experience handling oil tanker vessels as a Marine/HSEQ Superintendent and willing to work with a market leading shipping conglomerate in the shipping hub of the world?

Your Job responsibilities

  1. Audits
  • Plan, schedule and conduct shipboard internal audits, review and follow-up on the audit findings.
  • Plan and schedule external shipboard audits; review and follow-up on the audit findings
  • Conduct office internal audit, where assigned, review and follow-up on the audit findings.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Plan, participate and conduct ship-shore drills.
  • Review the emergency response manual and plans available in the QMS periodically and suggest improvement.
  • Prepare and review vessels’ Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP) and Shipboard Marine Pollution Emergency Plan (SMPEP) and maintain them up to date in compliance with relevant codes and conventions.

Environmental Management

  • Review the environmental management system manual and ensure the manual complies with the relevant standards, conventions and codes.
  • Review environmental reports from vessels and provide an analysis to the management including identifying trends and areas for improvements.

Vessel Management

  • Monitor and respond to any queries from vessels.
  • Review vessels’ Non-Conformity Report (NCR) and the associated corrective/preventive actions.
  • Participate in vessel incident investigation, review and analyze vessels’ incident reports, identify corrective measures, and monitor implementation for closure.
  • Respond with comments to the monthly safety committee meeting reports and Master’s review of the Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Review hot work plans submitted by the vessel.

Communications

  • Prepare safety bulletins, newsletters, and broadcast to fleet vessels.
  • Initiate safety campaigns and safety programs to improve/enhance the safety culture within the organization.

Project Management

  • Assist in various projects undertaken by the department, which includes development and implementation of project plan, provide the required training, and verification of the implementation.

Coaching and Mentoring

  • Conduct Senior Officer training for sea staff who are attached to office.
  • Conduct briefing for pre-joining Masters and Chief Engineers.
  • Manage, coach and motivate department’s support staff to perform on the job.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Master Mariner or Marine Engineer (Class 1) with at least 2 years in rank or;
  • 2 years of experience at middle management level in the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) department of a shipping company.
  • Dry Bulk shipping experience is mandatory
