Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective project cost control system aligned with company policies, applying appropriate cost management techniques to monitor, analyse, and report project expenditures accurately.
- Establish and maintain project cost coding structures and work breakdown elements, ensuring seamless integration between project controls, finance, and other operational functions.
- Prepare project budgets and continuously monitor commitments, cost variations, and forecasted expenditures to ensure financial performance remains within approved limits.
- Work closely with the procurement team to review commercial terms, support contract negotiations, and identify opportunities to optimise project costs.
- Design and maintain cost monitoring tools and dashboards using Microsoft Excel and internal cost management systems, providing real-time financial visibility to project teams and senior management.
- Develop asset cost management strategies in accordance with organisational standards, including preparation of direct cost estimates and periodic cost performance reviews.
- Produce regular financial reports highlighting budget utilisation, committed costs, forecasted expenditure, budget variances, and change order status. This includes monitoring and consolidating variation orders submitted by shipyards, subcontractors, and external vendors.
- Manage the complete invoice administration process, including invoice verification, payment processing, remittance tracking, milestone billing, and coordination with the finance department. Oversee petty cash administration where applicable.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts by coordinating anticipated project payments with the finance team.
- Support project close-out activities by preparing final financial summaries and project balance reports, ensuring all contractual commitments and outstanding payments are fully reconciled.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail with minimal supervision.
- Contribute to project risk management by identifying financial risks, monitoring cost-related issues, and recommending mitigation measures to minimise commercial exposure.
- Undertake additional project cost control responsibilities as assigned by the project management team to support successful project delivery.
Competencies & Skill
- sStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on cost optimisation and financial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle
- .Sound knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting, complemented by an understanding of engineering projects, marine systems, machinery, and shipboard equipment
- .Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- .Professional qualifications such as Chartered Accountant (CA) or Quantity Surveyor (QS) accreditation are considered advantageous
