Our client is a leading shipping conglomerate within the dry bulk industry segment and is looking to recruit a Business Analyst in their growing teams in Singapore.
Reporting to the Managing Director, your roles and responsibilities will be as below:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Commercial Analyst is a key early career role, enabling strong candidates to get immersed in a Profit and Loss driven environment, develop core analytical skills, and leverage and develop the management reporting and risk management platforms.
Business Performance Monitoring
• Maintaining a detailed position summary for the dry bulk freight trading business segment
• Ensuring all commitments have an accurate and updated Mark to Market
• Engaging with freight traders and charterers to ensure accurate and current P&L management
• Tracking FFA and bunker positions in conjunction with bunker procurement and FFA execution team
• Competitor and benchmarking analysis
Business Intelligence
• Tracking cargo and/or vessel movements in and out of key markets to determine supply and demand balances that shape their owned fleet and operating portfolio.
• Modelling optimization opportunities in the management of freight
• Visualization of information through Business Intelligence Software (Power BI)
Research & Analysis
• Conducting ad-hoc analysis as required by charterers, freight traders, and management
• Analyzing vessel speed, consumption, and emissions performance
• Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline, along with an excellent academic record, is essential
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the maritime, commodity, or energy sector
• Recent graduates who have an interest in the industry are welcome to apply
• Demonstrably commercial and results-oriented
• Proven interest in freight, commodity, and energy markets
• Strong attention to detail with a sharp intellect and clear judgment
• An ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and work accurately under pressure
• Team player with strong levels of personal integrity and a collaborative style
• Able to generate creative, feasible, and efficient solutions to solve problems
• Advanced quantitative and analytical capability and comfortable with Excel
