Job Description

Corporate Responsibilities

  • Be guided by the organization’s Vision, Mission, Values, and KPIs. Develop, implement, and drive both long-term and short-term strategies aimed at improving vessel condition and operational performance in a cost-effective manner.

  • Take full responsibility for all vessel drydockings, major layup repairs, installation of new equipment (whether regulatory or company-specific), and execution of major projects, including newbuilding initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development of technical strategies to build team competence, enhance skills and attitudes, strengthen safety culture, and improve risk perception in planning and executing large-scale technical projects.

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including sea staff, classification societies, statutory bodies, clients, and third-party service providers.

Layup Repair Projects

  • Project and manage repair budgets, taking into account vessel age, company docking policy, new regulations, and project location.

  • Collaborate with Ship Managers to plan and execute repairs, monitor cost and timeframes, and select suitable repair yards or contractors to ensure project efficiency, consistency, and minimal downtime.

  • Conduct vessel visits and sailings as needed to develop repair specifications, in coordination with the Ship Manager, Marine Assurance, and IT teams, ensuring alignment with regulatory and client requirements.

  • Oversee the execution of layup repair projects, including cost and time tracking, and manage final invoice settlement with the shipyard in line with performance KPIs.

  • Coordinate with Ship Managers and the Procurement team to ensure efficient logistics and timely spare parts scheduling to optimize costs.

Processes and System Efficiency

  • Develop and standardize drydock processes and procedures with a focus on both technical and safety aspects.

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive database of project costs and repair yard locations for informed decision-making and data analysis.

  • Implement and maintain software tools for standardized repair specifications, quote comparisons, work progress tracking, and final invoicing.

  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture learnings and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Recommend ERP system enhancements to streamline the docking process, improve decision-making, and provide clear project oversight. Support ERP development through change requests, user acceptance testing (UAT), and product reviews.

Training Content Development

  • Design training modules for seafarers to enhance awareness, planning, and performance during repair operations.

  • Participate in crew seminars to foster better engagement with seafarers and drive performance improvement.

  • Create training content for office staff to enhance their skills in building specifications, conducting cost comparisons, and managing invoicing effectively.
