Finance Planning & Analysis Manager(Maritime)

Our client is an European Ship Owner company. They are looking for individuals who are qualified accountants or possess a Degree in Accountancy with more than 3 years of Shipping Finance background and has experience in handling financial and management reporting, forecast and month-end closing for ship owner organizations

This role is within the Financial Control (FinCon) team in Singapore and will work closely with commercial heads and other internal stakeholders to provide valuable insights into the financial performance of our fleet of the shipping group. The role will be responsible to produce consolidated/entity level financial statements, management reporting of key financial performance indicators, as well as co-ordinate budgeting and forecasting for the segment.
 

Responsibilities 

FINANCIAL AND MANAGEMENT REPORTING

  • Produce management reports and analytics for the segment including reporting of Net asset value, Net operating profit, Profit and loss and other key performance indicators on a monthly, quarterly basis as applicable. 

  • Produce and lead the audit in case of consolidated/entity financial statements to be produced for statutory, compliance or other reporting purposes; work closely within FinCon team to address audit queries related to entities under the segment for group audit. 

  • Work closely within FinCon team or tax agents in preparation and filing of returns under applicable tax jurisdiction at the group as well as entity level. 

 

REVENUE FORECAST, REPORTING AND ANALYTICS 

  • Engage commercial heads on annual/quarterly revenue and net operating profit forecast exercise 

  • Review the charter arrangements of vessels and ensure group’s policies both for financial and management reporting are consistently applied, financial review includes application of accounting standards, management review includes conversion from IFRS to non-IFRS measures, quantification of revenue backlog/committed revenue, review of aged accounts receivable positions, expected credit loss in Charterers’ receivable position. 

 

MONTH-END GENERAL LEDGER CLOSING PROCESS 

  • Review the Balance sheet and profit and loss balances for all the vessels (trading and new builds) in the segment and ensure reconciling items are resolved 

  • Work closely with FinCon Cost analytics team to ensure that capital expenditure, operating costs, other project-related costs of vessels and new builds are properly accounted for. 

  • Work closely with FinCon Corporate accounting team to ensure depreciation and amortisation, finance costs, allocation of SG&A and other non-operating costs are properly accounted for. 

  • Work closely on Fincon processes to achieve timelines for monthly closing of General Ledger for the group 

 

Requirements 

  • Degree in accountancy or equivalent and Chartered Accountant qualification 

  • 3-4 years in similar managerial positions in the maritime industry-leading a small team 

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards applicable to the maritime industry 

  • Hands-on experience in financial consolidation as well as management reporting and analysis.

  • Strong preference for prior experience in IMOS, Oracle 

  • Preference for exposure in compliance matters for MSI-AIS Award 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as this role require an active cross-functional dialogue with internal and external stakeholders 

  • Strong data mining skills with the ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information as this role fronts the segment reporting to management and commercial heads 

  • Strong preference for experience in creating or improving a finance function and controls as this role will involve creating and building a segment line reporting function.
