Overview
Exciting role! We’re looking for a dynamic Head Fleet Personnel Director to lead and manage crewing operations for our clients maritime fleet which is based in Singapore. This role requires someone who can combine both, operational oversight with strategic planning to ensure that vessels are staffed with capable, well-trained professionals while maintaining full compliance with industry regulations.
Strategic Planning & Direction
- Define and implement departmental goals that support broader company initiatives.
- Assess industry trends and recommend service innovations to stay competitive.
- Develop long-term staffing strategies that align with fleet expansion and operational needs.
- Partner with senior leadership to grow the client base and expand market presence.
- Ensure timely and compliant crew placements through effective contract management and recruitment processes.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, offering tailored solutions to meet vessel manning needs.
- Allocate resources and assign tasks to meet client service standards.
- Review financial plans for service delivery and authorize expenditures.
- Monitor safety incidents and introduce training programs to reduce risk and improve crew readiness.
- Handle crew performance issues with discretion, focusing on safety, reputation, and support.
- Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor staff, set clear performance expectations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure all crewing activities adhere to national and international regulations.
- Produce and analyze staffing reports to identify areas for process improvement.
- Keep up to date with changes in maritime compliance standards and adjust policies as needed.
- Lead internal training programs and manage career development pathways within the department.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and implement cost-effective practices where possible.
- Represent the company in relevant industry bodies and participate in sector-wide discussions and initiatives.
- Cultivate partnerships with maritime authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Attend senior-level meetings and contribute to broader fleet operations planning.
- Drive adoption of digital tools and systems that improve workflow and personnel management.
- Explore opportunities for automation or process refinement to boost operational efficiency.
Education
- Degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Chief Engineer or Master Mariner are advantageous.
- At least 6 years in a leadership role within crew management or marine operations.
- A minimum of 9 years of total experience in the maritime or shipping industry.
- Strong grasp of global crewing requirements, employment laws, and industry standards.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage recruitment pipelines, and maintain operational excellence.
- Skilled in communication, negotiation, and relationship-building.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
