We are partnering with an international company in the Maritime sector to source for a Port Captain to be based either in China or Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate cargo requirements and vessel space.
- Prepare stowage plans and perform related calculations.
- Advise on cargo handling, regulations, and vessel readiness.
- Liaise with ship Masters and owners on cargo and stowage matters.
- Assess ship suitability for cargo and contracts.
- Provide technical input on vessel capabilities and cargo restrictions.
- Join scheduling meetings and review stevedoring costs.
- Supervise loading/unloading, especially in the Far East.
- Coordinate labor, cargo operations, and special cargo inspections.
- Act as the on-site representative between ship, stevedores, and office.
- Stay updated on maritime regulations and cargo practices.
- Share technical knowledge with internal teams.
Requirements:
- Licensed Master or Chief Officer
- 2+ years in a related shore-based role.
- Skilled in cargo planning, breakbulk handling, and ship stability.
- Knowledge of IMSBC Code and grain regulations.
- Strong communicator, fluent in English and Mandarin.
- Organized, detail-oriented, independent, and computer savvy.
