Functions
Responsible for providing technical support to vessels assigned to enable reliable and efficient operation. For the
vessels assigned under direct charge, the technical superintendent is accountable for:
• Compliance with HSQEEn policies & procedures, applicable international and national regulations
• Maintenance, operational performance, and reliability, of all equipment and machinery on the vessel
• Control of operating expenses and budget planning
• Effective rectifications/closures to maintenance related nonconformities and deficiencies
• Overall performance of the vessel
KPIs
• LTIF
• TRCF
• Off-hire due to technical reasons
• Vessel’s Opex Budget against the average of the sister vessels in the fleet
• Environment and Energy management
• Maintenance KPI
Tasks
Tasks shall include but not be limited to:
Planning & Development Tasks like:
• Formulating long term maintenance plans, and tracking maintenance in accordance with makers
maintenance schedules and the PMS
• Planning and managing under the guidance of fleet manager, refits, maintenance, repairs, dry-docking,
conversions or modifications
• Preparing detailed refit specifications for allocated vessels
• Suggesting improvement/changes to procedures & HSQEEn manuals where required
Financial & Budgetary tasks like:
• Monitoring and managing vessel operating costs within agreed budgets
• Preparing and presenting to the Fleet Manager annual operating budgets
• Seeking approval of unbudgeted expenditure from Fleet Manager
Verification and Validation:
• Directing & monitoring the vessel stocking levels with respect to regular and critical spares
• Following up on reporting, resolution and closure of guarantee claims
• Monitoring vessel performance trends including speed, fuel and lubricating oil consumptions, and
implementing timely remedial actions where required
• Performing vessel technical inspections and visits, on allocated vessels, as per company Vessel Technical
Inspection guidelines
• Providing feedback to the new building team on improvements/modifications where required
• Reviewing and approving nonstandard job risk assessments in consultation with Marine Superintendent and
Fleet Manager
• Reviewing vessel technical reports and ensuring upkeep of the office vessel technical filing system and PMS
• Reviewing HSE and Ship Board Management Meetings in close liaison with the marine and environment
superintendent

• Assisting the Marine Superintendent with claims related to Hull &Machinery
• Controlling and executing all activities pertaining to classification bodies, flag states, and surveys &
certification of the vessels under direct charge
• Complete Off 22 - Superintendent Handover Notes for change in assignment, termination or when
proceeding on business trip/ vacation
Health Safety Environment & Quality:
• Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team during an emergency
• Ensuring implementation of safety and environmental standards on board the vessel
Procurement and Purchase:
• Approving vessel orders for stores, spares, repairs and survey within financial limit of authority
• Monitoring and guiding the vessel purchaser and the technical assistant on procurement matters and
technical services
Resources & Personnel:
• Assisting crewing department in the selection of engineer officers
• Performing senior Officer Performance Appraisals, mentoring of staff, and carrying out briefings

& 2 years of shore experience in similar position
