As part of the global research team, this role will focus on providing the freight trading desks with insight and analysis of the supply and demand of grains and oilseeds markets. The successful candidate will work closely together with the internal research team and its commercial desks to forecast and identify changes in trade flows covering the worldwide grains markets.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily fundamental analysis and forecast-specific supply and demand (short-term and long-term) of major grain products, such as soybean, corn, and wheat.
- Develop and maintain industry models and export/import forecasts to support research and marketing activities.
- Assist with business development and strategic activities through the provision of detailed insightful market analysis.
- Work closely with the commercial desk and other members of the research team to identify trading opportunities.
- Help with and contribute to projects as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-8 years experience in commodities research, with a pre-existing solid contact network within the agricultural commodities markets. Fluency in spoken Mandarin is essential
- Able to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Candidates with a proven track record of knowledge of the Chinese grains markets, or with prior experience in a trading/ marketing role will be considered favorably.
