General Manager, Accounting & Finance (Mumbai | Maritime Industry Only)
This is a senior finance leadership role responsible overseeing the end to end accounting and finance function for an established international maritime organisation, in their Mumbai office. We will only consider candidates who have relevant experience in the shipping/maritime industry.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the full accounting and finance function including period close, reporting, and financial controls
• Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in line with Indian accounting standards
• Drive cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital planning
• Prepare budgets, monitor costs, and support efficiency and cost control initiatives
• Oversee statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance and manage audits end to end
• Manage payroll and finance operations for shore based and seafaring staff, including multi currency payments and remittances
• Act as the primary finance contact for banks, auditors, and external advisors
• Strengthen internal controls, systems, and governance frameworks
• Lead, develop, and manage a finance team directly
• Provide financial insight and support to senior management on operational and strategic matters
Key Requirements:
•Chartered Accountant qualification is mandatory
• 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting
• Prior experience in a senior finance leadership role managing large teams
• Strong background within shipping, maritime, ship management, or related marine services in India
• Hands on understanding of maritime payroll, remittances, and compliance environments preferred
• Solid knowledge of Indian tax, statutory, and regulatory frameworks
• Comfortable working with ERP systems, accounting platforms, and advanced Excel reporting
• Confident stakeholder manager with the ability to operate independently and drive outcomes
