Join a reputable shipowner and take on a pivotal role as the Owner’s Representative, ensuring the safe, efficient, and value- driven management of our vessels. You will represent the owner’s interests while liaising with external technical managers, crew, and stakeholders to maintain vessel standards, minimize downtime, and optimize performance. This role involves travel to vessels and close coordination with the Technical Head.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the owner’s interests for assigned vessels, monitoring day-to-day operations, machinery and equipment maintenance, and budget/OPEX performance.
- Ensure vessels comply with all regulations, ISM code, flag state, port state, and industry requirements.
- Liaise with external technical managers and ship staff to support safe and efficient technical operations.
- Conduct vessel inspections, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to maintain vessel standards.
- Monitor PMS and vessel performance, ensuring documentation and certificates remain valid.
- Review technical statistics, budgets, repair costs, and deviations; verify non-budget costs.
- Support preparations for audits, surveys, and inspections, as well as senior officer screening and briefings.
- Undertake ship takeovers and manage related arrangements.
- Provide reports and updates to the Technical Head and assist in management reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
- COC Class 1 Chief Engineer with minimum 3 years of shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent.
- Prior experience with dry bulk vessels (with cranes) is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of PMS and SMS systems.
- Good command of written and spoken English; knowledge of Chinese is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and compliance requirements.
- Computer literate; environmentally focused mindset.
