Our client is a leading European shipping company centrally located office is looking for a Senior Accountant. Big4 experience would be an added advantage.
Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will work with team members to ensure the smooth running of the General Ledger section. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of entities and Group accounts, advocating best practices in internal controls and accounting practices. He/she will champion the team’s objectives in cross-functional work areas.
Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities
· Identify issues or gaps in existing work areas and initiate improvement
· Front effective discussion with internal stakeholders on existing and new processes
· Review and ensure accounting schedules, reconciliations and reporting packs are in order
· Finalize statutory audit and tax filings within stipulated timelines
· Coach junior members for future progression
· Drive and lead the team towards goals in new work areas or project initiatives
· Keep abreast of developments in Singapore and other applicable regulations governing statutory reporting/filings, direct and indirect taxes and identify and resolve gaps
The ideal candidate is outgoing, technically sound, logical in thought process and able to size up issues quickly. He/she is able to remain composed and propose feasible solutions/alternatives to work problems. He/She will be able to lead and manage a team and also stand in for peers and the Finance Manager whenever required.
Qualifications & Experience
· Minimum Degree in Finance and Accounting and CPA qualified
· Minimum 8 years of working experience
· Good technical knowledge of FRS and tax, accounting system(s), full set closing experience particularly in handling asset-heavy balance sheets and knowledge of group accounts
· Proven capability in managing, motivating and leading a team towards a common goal
· Strong communication and analytical skills
· Proven track record in project management and its execution
