Training Superintendent – Marine Engineering
Engine Experience: MAN B&W RT-flex
Qualification: Chief Engineer (Unlimited)
Job Purpose
To plan, conduct, and oversee technical training for marine engineers, with a focus on RT-flex main engines, ensuring safe operations, compliance with company standards, class, and regulatory requirements. The role supports fleet reliability through structured training, assessments, and competency development.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct technical training programs for engineers (Junior to Chief Engineer level), with emphasis on MAN B&W RT-flex engines.

Develop and deliver engine-specific training modules, presentations, and technical manuals.

Evaluate and assess engineering officers’ competencies, identify training gaps, and recommend corrective actions.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to ship staff on main engine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Support vessels during breakdowns, incidents, and critical operations, including root cause analysis.

Ensure training content aligns with OEM guidelines, ISM, STCW, Class, and Flag State requirements.

Coordinate with technical, marine, and crewing departments for training schedules and deployment planning.

Participate in simulator training, workshops, seminars, and OEM-led programs where required.

Review and update PMS procedures, checklists, and best practices related to RT-flex engines.

Maintain accurate training records, assessments, and reports.

Assist in newbuilding deliveries, dry docks, or major overhauls if required.
Mandatory Requirements

Chief Engineer (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency

Minimum 12 months of sea service as Chief Engineer

Hands-on sailing experience on MAN B&W RT-flex main engines

Strong knowledge of engine automation, control systems, and fuel systems

Familiarity with ISM Code, STCW, Class, and Flag requirements

Prior experience in training, mentoring, or technical superintendent roles is preferred
